Couples Do Not Search For A Wedding Photographer

They search for the barn. Or the castle. Or the hotel. Or the village hall their mum got married in. They have booked the venue already, frequently a year before they think about anybody to photograph it, plus the venue is the only fixed thing in their heads.

Then they search a style, because they saw something on a friend's feed and want more of that. Then they search what it costs, three or four times, in different words, hoping somebody will finally give them a number.

The phrase wedding photographer barely comes into it. It is also one of the hardest things to rank for that we measure anywhere, sitting at 52 out of 100, defended by studios who have been building for a decade. If your plan is to beat them at it, you will be waiting a long time and paying somebody the whole while.

Here is the good news, and it is genuinely unusual. The things couples do search are almost completely unclaimed. Venue searches score 4 out of 100 for competition. Small weddings and elopements score 1. Package and pricing questions score 14. Style searches score 16. We have measured a lot of trades and there is nothing else with a gap like that between where everybody is fighting and where the customers actually are.

So we do not start with the two words on your homepage. We start with everything else.

The softest ground we have measured in any industry

A Page For Every Venue You Have Shot

Twelve and a half thousand couples a month search a specific wedding venue alongside the word photographer. The competition score on those searches is 4 out of 100. Nothing in any trade we have worked on comes close to that. Not emergency plumbing, not storm damage, not anything.

They also return no map whatsoever. Zero. Your Google listing, however well we build it, will never once be shown to that couple. There is exactly one way to be there and it is to have a page about that venue.

You have already done the hard part. You have shot there. You have the ceremony room in three different lights, you know where the sun lands at six o'clock in July, you know which corner of the garden works and which staircase is a nightmare. That is a page. It is also a page nobody else can write.

So we build one for every venue you have genuinely worked at. Real photographs from your own weddings there, what the light does, where the confetti shot happens, how the day tends to run. Then we do it again for the next venue, plus the one after.

What we will not do is invent them. If you have never shot at a venue we will not write a page pretending you have. Couples cross reference obsessively, venues talk to each other, plus a gallery that does not match the words is spotted immediately. Every venue page we build is one you can back up with photographs.

The compounding bit is why photographers like this. Every wedding you shoot this year is next year's page. The library grows on its own, out of work you were doing anyway, plus each new page reaches couples who have already committed to a date and a deposit.

Fourteen jobs, one fee, running from the first month

What We Run On Your Account

Most agencies sell a photographer a blog post a month about wedding trends. Here is what we actually do.

01Competition Score Of 4

A Venue Page Library

One page per venue you have genuinely shot at, built from your own photographs of that place. The softest ground in your entire market plus the only route to it, since venue searches never show a map. We start with your best ten then keep adding as you shoot.

02A Map Shows On 89%

Your Google Listing, Run Properly

Category set to wedding photographer rather than the catch-all photographer it usually is. Service area drawn to the counties you travel, not just your postcode. Photographs refreshed, posts weekly. Three photographers appear in that map and there is no reason it should not be you.

03Stop Losing The Wrong Enquiries

Prices And Packages, Published

A from figure plus a clear explanation of what moves it. Coverage hours, second shooter, album, travel. It saves you a dozen evenings a year replying to couples who were never in your bracket, plus it puts you into a search you are currently invisible for.

04How Couples Actually Choose

Style And Approach Pages

Documentary, unposed, fine art, film, black and white, however you describe what you do. Couples search these words specifically because they have seen something they liked and want more of it. Soft ground plus it filters for people who will love your work rather than tolerate it.

05Where You Travel

A Page Per County You Cover

Couples search counties and regions far more than towns in your trade, which is unusual. Written properly for each area with your real weddings there, rather than the same page with a place name swapped, which fools nobody including Google.

06Beautiful Sites Are Usually Slow

Gallery And Image Optimisation

Your galleries are the whole product plus they are also what makes your site crawl on a phone. We compress properly so the work still looks like your work, fix what is loading needlessly, size everything correctly plus make sure Google can actually read the images rather than guess at them.

07After Every Wedding

A Review Programme

A request when you deliver the gallery, while they are crying at their own photographs, is worth ten sent three months later. A route for anything that goes wrong. A schedule so it never stops during a busy summer.

08Every Quarter, Unasked

A Full Check Of The Site

Broken links, galleries Google cannot read, pages nobody can reach, things loading slowly. Found then fixed, rather than sent to you as a list of problems to worry about between weddings.

09Consistency Signals

Directory And Citation Clean-Up

Your name, area plus contact details identical everywhere they appear. Old trading names, previous studio addresses plus duplicate listings corrected. Common in a trade where people rebrand every few years.

10So Machines Read It Right

Schema And AI Optimisation

Your services, your areas, your packages, your reviews plus your venue coverage written in the format search engines and AI assistants read as fact. Price questions get answered by a machine two thirds of the time, so being the source it quotes matters.

11Free And Almost Never Done

Linking It All Together

Venue pages linked to the county they sit in, styles linked to the weddings that show them, every real wedding linked to the venue plus the package it used. It costs nothing plus it is missing from nearly every photographer's site we take over.

12Usually The Fastest Gain

Fixing What Earns Nothing

Every site arrives with dead weight. With photographers it is normally forty near identical blog posts titled with a couple's first names and nothing else, which rank for nothing. We rework them into venue pages, which is the same content doing a job.

13No Separate Web Bill

Your Website, Looked After

We build the pages, make the changes plus keep the thing running. No waiting on a web person, no queue, no invoice arriving because you wanted a new venue page. If the site needs work, the work is in the fee.

14Two Posts A Week

Social Media, Run For You

Managed rather than abandoned in August when you are shooting every weekend. Everything gets reused across the site plus the listing so it earns three times over. Yours is the easiest trade there is to post well for, since the product is already a photograph.

Plus a written update every three weeks, a full check of the site each quarter plus a monthly report on where you rank, how visible you are in the map and how many enquiries came in. One fee. No add-ons. Nothing billed separately.

Two hundred areas counted. Find yours

Couples Are Searching Your County Right Now

Couples do not search for a photographer the way they search for a plumber. They search a county, a city or a region, then spend an evening opening tabs. We counted how many do it, across 200 areas. Put yours in below. Whatever comes back is a year of engaged couples, plus right now they are all landing on somebody else's portfolio first.

200 areas loaded, counties included since that is how couples search. Not there? Ask and we will pull yours by hand.

How it compares nearby

Every one of those is a couple about to spend an evening choosing somebody. The only question is whose work they see. We can tell you who they are finding in your area today plus what it would take for that to be you.

That one is not in the list

Try your county rather than your town, since that is how most couples search for a photographer. We loaded the 200 biggest areas plus there are 74 more behind them.

Tell us where you shoot and we will pull the figures for your area by hand, then send them over. Yours to keep whether you go ahead with us or not.

Rounded monthly UK searches for wedding photography carrying each place name. Overseas searches, camera gear, editing software plus people wanting to become a photographer are all taken out first, so these are couples rather than noise. Wedding search is seasonal, so read these as the size of the prize across a year rather than a promise for any one month.

What it looks like from behind the camera

What Actually Changes

How it is for most photographers
  • Enquiries arriving in bursts you cannot predict
  • Paying a directory for a listing beside forty others
  • Couples asking for a price then never replying
  • Being compared purely on cost by people who found you on a list
  • A website that looks lovely and ranks for nothing
  • Hundreds of galleries doing no work at all
  • A diary that fills late and leaves gaps in the shoulder months
How it is once this is running
  • Couples finding you while they are searching their own venue
  • No directory fees and no commission on a booking
  • Enquiries that already know your prices plus want you anyway
  • Being chosen on your work rather than on a shortlist of costs
  • Your site earning between weddings instead of just existing
  • Every wedding you shoot adding another page that works for years
  • A diary that fills earlier, so you can be choosier about dates

We will not promise you a position or a number of bookings, because nobody can do that truthfully. We report every month on where you rank, how visible you are in the map plus how many enquiries came in, so you can judge it rather than take our word for it.

Your trade does not run on a calendar month

How It Fits Around Your Year

Wedding search is one of the most seasonal patterns there is. Enquiries climb hard through the new year for weddings eighteen months out, then thin through the summer while everybody is busy attending them rather than planning them.

That changes how this gets judged rather than whether it works. A quiet fortnight in October means nothing. What matters is whether you go into next January visible for the venues and counties you want to be shooting in.

FIRST

A conversation about your work

Where you shoot, which venues you have covered, what you would rather shoot more of plus what you would happily never photograph again. We look at your site and listing while you are on the phone and tell you what is wrong with them.

EARLY WEEKS

Listing, prices, first venue pages

The listing sorted, a proper prices page put up plus the first venue pages built from weddings you have already shot. These are the fastest moving things in your trade so they go first.

THROUGH THE SEASON

The library keeps growing

Every wedding you shoot becomes another venue page. Styles, counties, packages plus the galleries all get built out around them. You send us the work. We turn it into pages.

BY NEXT JANUARY

You are there when it matters

The point of starting now is being visible when the enquiry wave arrives in the new year, rather than starting then and being ready by the summer after. Booking cycles are long, which cuts both ways.

One booking usually covers most of a year

Does It Pay For Itself

Drag the sliders to your own numbers, using your average booking rather than your top package. For most photographers two extra weddings a year covers the whole thing. The rest is yours. This is a rough illustration to think with rather than a promise of results.

Illustrative additional value per month
£3,400

What We Charge

All fourteen jobs sit in every plan. The tiers change how much ground we cover plus how much work goes in, never the list of what you get. Most photographers need the first one.

What photographers ask us on the first call

Things Photographers Ask

Can I rank for wedding photographer in my city?
Eventually, though it should not be where you start. The head terms in your trade are among the hardest we measure, with wedding photographer at 52 out of 100 plus the big city versions in the forties. Meanwhile venue searches sit at 4 out of 100, small weddings and elopements sit at 1, package and pricing questions at 14 plus style searches at 16. We take the soft ground first because it books couples this year, then the city terms follow on the back of the authority that builds.
Why do you keep talking about venue pages?
Because they are the single best opportunity in your trade plus almost nobody has taken it. Venue searches carry 12,460 a month at a competition score of 4 out of 100, which is the softest group we have measured in any sector. They also return no map at all, so a Google listing can never reach that couple. They are won by having a page about that venue and lost by not having one. You have already shot the photographs. What is missing is the page.
Should I put my prices on my website?
A starting figure at least. Price and package searches carry 40,480 a month at a competition score of 14, which makes them one of the softest things in your trade. They also return an AI answer on two thirds of measured volume. Hiding your prices behind an enquiry form does not create a conversation, it removes you from that search entirely and lets somebody else's figures become the answer. A from price with a clear explanation of what changes it will not cost you bookings. It will stop you spending evenings replying to couples who were never in your bracket.
Is Instagram not enough on its own?
It is excellent at the moment somebody already knows your name plus it does very little before that. A map of three photographers appears on 89% of the demand we could measure. None of those three got there through a feed. The two work together. Search finds the couple who has never heard of you, then your feed and your galleries close them. Everything we publish gets reused across your site, your listing plus your social accounts, so it feeds both.
My work is booked eighteen months ahead. Does that matter?
It changes how you judge it rather than whether it works. Wedding search is heavily seasonal, with enquiry volume climbing hard in the new year for weddings eighteen months out, so a quiet fortnight in October means nothing at all. We report every month regardless, then ask you to judge results across a booking cycle rather than a single month. It also means the work you commission now is aimed at a diary you will be filling next spring.
Will you write venue pages for places I have not shot at?
No. Couples cross reference obsessively, venues talk to each other plus a gallery that does not match the words is spotted straight away. It would also be a poor way to meet somebody on the biggest day of their life. Every venue page we build comes from weddings you have genuinely photographed, using your own images. If there is a venue you want and have not shot yet, we will say plainly that the page has to wait until you have.
What do I actually get for the money?
Fourteen jobs running every month. Your Google listing built and managed, reviews arriving after every wedding, a page for every venue you have shot at, style, county and package pages, your galleries made fast enough to survive a phone, the faults on your site fixed, quarterly checks, your website looked after with no separate web bill, AI optimisation plus two social posts a week. On top of that a written update every three weeks. One fee from £350 a month, no setup charge, no commission and nothing billed separately.
