Local SEO for a Manchester Tattoo and Beauty Studio
Shallows is a walk-in tattoo and beauty studio in Manchester. The site was already live with a small search presence when we started in November 2025. Ten months later its estimated monthly traffic has gone up five times over. The campaign is still running.
The Results
When the campaign started on 1 November 2025, Shallows was on an estimated 851 organic visits a month and 254 ranking keywords. By 17 September 2026 that had reached 4,241 visits and 1,624 keywords.

Ranking keywords
Figures are taken from Semrush for the shallows.studio domain in the UK database, plotted from daily readings between 1 November 2025 and 17 September 2026. Organic traffic in Semrush is an estimate based on ranking positions and search volumes rather than a count of visits.
The Starting Point
Shallows was not starting from nothing. The site was live, it ranked for a couple of hundred keywords and it brought in a few hundred visits a month. That is a fairly normal position for a busy studio that has never had anyone working on its search presence.
Manchester is a crowded market for tattoo and beauty work. Getting found there means being visible for the way people actually search, which is rarely the name of a studio they have never heard of.
Walk-ins make that sharper still. A studio taking walk-in customers needs to be found by somebody deciding today, not somebody booking in three months.
What We Did
The same local SEO process we run for every client, applied to a site that already existed rather than a new one.
Site audit
We audited the website and the Google Business Profile first, so the work started from what the site actually had rather than what it was assumed to have.
Keyword research and topical clusters
We mapped what people in Manchester search for around tattoos and beauty treatments, then grouped those searches into clusters. Each cluster has a landing page for the service, a hub page for the subject and informational pages beneath it.
Informational pages
We published pages answering the questions people ask before they book anything. Pages like these bring people to a site who are not yet searching for a studio by name.
Schema and internal linking
Every page carries structured data and links to the others in its cluster, to its hub page and to the landing page it supports. That tells search engines what the studio does, where it does it and how the pages relate to each other.
Google Maps
The Google Business Profile was optimised alongside the website, with the categories, services and business details matched to what the site says. For a walk-in studio the map listing does a lot of the work.
Audits every three months
The site is audited every three months while the campaign runs. Pages that rank are given clear calls to action. Pages that do not rank are rebuilt rather than left sitting there.
Where It Is Now
The campaign is still running. Traffic climbed hardest between March and July 2026 and has settled around four times where it started, with keyword numbers moving up and down month to month as pages gain and lose positions.
That movement is normal. Search is never a straight line. A campaign that is still running is one where somebody is still working on it.
